The context continued, is that while the manga (named Deep Insanity: Nirvana, written by Akudama Drive co-creator Norimitsu Kaihou and Psycho-Pass screenwriter Makoto Fukami) features a boy immune to the Randolph syndrome and simultaneous an Antarctian trader journeying into "Asylum", and the mobage featuring a main character who's the only sole survivor of the syndrome, the anime itself takes place in between both mediums and treads that line with Deep Insanity: The Lost Child, featuring the MC Shigure Daniel Kai who joins the Antarctica Front as a "Sleeper", exploring the Asylum with monsters called "Scarred" and humans called "Exiles", the infected ones referred to as "Cultists". And before you ask, don't ever expect "Made In Abyss" levels of lore in this one, you'll be severely disappointed. The illness spanning from the South Pole in this deep underground "Asylum", and the quest to go explore and find a cure or even find any sorts of treasure lurking around.

The context is that this IP has 3 forms of media attached to it: the manga, anime and the mobage, ALL of which are intertwined in one form or another to the central plot of the series as a whole, which tells of a world where humanity has fallen into comas as a result of the mysterious illness called "Randolph Syndrome". and I honestly don't blame you if the anime itself doesn't really offer a lot to begin with, much less execute the "show, not tell" golden rule in a very bizarre and unsatisfying way. In all circumstances, this show is just outright horrible on every angle, and this is a classic case study of how NOT to formulate an anime that wastes everyone's time and money, resources of which are timeless and cannot be earned back.įor one, Deep Insanity hinges very heavily on its mixed-media themes, because without the context of either one of them, you would be very lost, Just who was this show made for, other than to promote Square Enix's brand new IP: Deep Insanity? No, not one, it seems.

Its cast is lovable and well-rounded, story intense and well-paced and soundtrack, phenomenal. The VerdictĪt its heart, My Hero Academia is a story about fulfilling ambitions in the face of adversity. The teachers’ fight sequences give a glimpse of the power they will one day have. But watching them grow from newbies to elite fighters is half the attraction of this show. The audience is aware that Midoriya and his friends are just students, unprepared for the brutal world outside of their school. This is a series best watched in a couple of sittings. Even though the good guys will probably win, in the heat of the moment, it feels like anything could happen. Coupled with a fantastically energetic soundtrack, the battles leave the audience on the edge of their seats. Every fight is over in under two episodes, animated with a breath-taking fluidity that lets the viewers FEEL the power and effort in every attack. There are no Dragon Ball -style filler episodes. The other characters may be a little simplistic, but every one of them, particularly his idol, All Might, is relatable and has realistic motivations. He’s an instant underdog, made more likable by his unyielding focus and desire to make his dream become reality, no matter what. Midoriya’s goal is simple: become a hero. In a world full of people with superpowers, Midoriya has none. The overarching plot can be summed up very quickly. As such, the plot cuts straight to the point – everything the main character does either furthers the story or provides background to the world he lives in and the people he meets. Unlike the most popular shōnen shows, My Hero Academia will be 23 episodes long. Does Studio Bone’s adaptation of My Hero Academia hold up as a show ideal for beginners? Let’s take a look.
